Community Initiatives
Circular Economies

Educate, understand, and implement policies and practices concerning degrowth, circular economies, and donut economics as a root-based initiative that not only tackles the intersectional environmental issues, but also begins to tackle and change the material conditions of our community.

Clean Air Pueblo
Brought together in 2022, CAP has changed the landscape of air monitoring in Pueblo County. Going from only two PurpleAir monitoring units in Pueblo, CAP secured a grant from the Winward Foundation that allowed more than fifteen air monitors across Pueblo County to allow real-time air quality data in ten-minute intervals to allow data democracy through the PurpleAir map for all of Pueblo's citizens to make decisions about their health! CAP's initial progress went so well, we were approached by the state of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment through their Air Pollution Control Division to embark on a collaboration to bring more sophisticated air quality monitoring to Pueblo that measures more contaminants. CAP continues to educate and empower the community about the effects of air pollution and the action that can be taken as a community.

Climate Resilience
Building the capacity to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to hazardous events associated with climate catastrophe. Building mutual aid networks with each community for the inevitable reality of a changing climate that create reciprocal relationships for this disaster and the next.
